FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
The name change was a project that took several years and evolved from the idea of giving the bottles a new look. Our motto is: Every wine has a home! The origin of our wines should be tactile – and recognizable by their names. Of course, this also has the added benefit of avoiding confusion with namesakes. Therefore, starting in April 2024, we have decided to no longer name our farm after ourselves, but rather after the place we share with our wines.
This place is not only the geographical coordinates of our farm, but also the heart of our lives. May we introduce:
Regional wines
These are our foundational wines. Originating from the Bavarian Lake Constance region, they represent the region. A carefree drinking pleasure and an elegant introduction to our terroir!
Local wines
These wines particularly characterize the place where they were grown: Nonnenhorn is a flat peninsula in Lake Constance - thus very much influenced by the lake and its history.
Single-vineyard wines
These are our top-quality wines and grow in our best vineyards, such as Seehalde and Sonnenbichl. Each vineyard offers different conditions for the vines. Only a few vineyards produce grapes with these characteristics and qualities. Therefore, only a limited quantity is available.
Since 2017, Simon has been responsible for the vines and everything that goes into transforming the grapes into unique wines in your glass. He listens to hip hop in the wine cellar, football podcasts on the tractor, and children's songs with his daughter Alva at home. Lisa ensures that you'll find everything there is to know about our winery on the website, social media, and in the newsletter, and organizes events. Roland assists Simon in the vineyards and takes care of the tractors and machinery with dedication. Jutta is primarily involved in wine sales, and she also rents out our cozy vacation apartments. Come visit us sometime!
The wine shop is open Mon-Sat from 10am-12pm and 2pm-6pm, and the holiday apartments are available year-round.

Simon brings it all into the bottle – a special climate, a holiday feeling, gravelly soils underfoot.
Simon and the soils – it's a love story! It's well known that soil plays a major role in viticulture. But Simon's interest in this field even drove him to write his bachelor's thesis on the soils of the Bavarian Lake Constance region. Because you can taste the soil – ideally.
The location on Lake Constance creates a pleasant environment not only for us, but also for the vines. The rolling hills and mild climate ensure that the grapes ripen slowly and can develop their full aroma. Each location offers different conditions for the vines.
The Hornstein family lives on our Seehaldenhof winery in—guess what—Nonnenhorn's Seehalde. But the other vineyards on the Bavarian Lake Constance also offer interesting foundations and challenges. Stay tuned—more single-vineyard wines will soon be joining Seehalde and Sonnenbichl.
You are welcome to request wine tastings or guided tours at hi@seehaldenhof.de .
